Where is Maggie Bell at the FBI? Season 5: The FBI, a CBS crime show, has been through this before. At this time, Missy Peregrym, who plays Maggie Bell, is not on the show as she returns for her fifth season.
But where is Maggie in FBI season 5 and why is Missy Peregrym, who plays her, not on the show right now?
Where is Maggie Bell at the FBI? Season 5
Maggie Bell is still getting better off screen after nearly dying from a toxic dose of sarin gas in FBI season 4 episode 18.
Maggie and OA spent the entire episode trying to find a dangerous terrorist who had a deadly nerve agent and was hiding it.
The two find their target, a man named Hakeen Abbas, but when Maggie tries to talk to him, he pulls out a gun and forces her to kill him.
Hakeen dropped a sarin gas canister in the process, trapping Maggie in the room as the poisonous nerve agent spread.
Maggie was very lucky to have survived the attack because OA was able to free her, but she was in very bad shape and needed a lot of medical attention before she could go back to work.
As season 5 begins, Maggie continues to improve from what nearly killed her.
Why isn’t Miss Peregrym back yet?
Maggie almost died on the show, but actress Missy Peregrym is currently on maternity leavewhich is a much happier reason for his absence.
Missy told everyone on social media in February that she was expecting her second child. On June 6, 2022, she gave birth to her second child.
Missy told the world in a sweet Instagram post that she and her husband, Tom Oakley, had a daughter named Mela Joséphine Oakley. This is their second child together, after having a boy named Otis in March 2020.
In an interview with Variety, FBI Executive Producer Rick Eid discussed Missy’s break from the show. He said, “Basically, I told her, ‘Tell us what she wants and what she needs, and we’ll do everything we can to make it happen.'” She was feeling great and she wanted to work as much as possible.
“We had a pretty good idea of when it was going to go, so it was just a matter of finding the right episode and plot to go with it. I thought the idea of killing her with sarin gas was a fun and exciting way to do it.
“We just wanted to find a way to send her off in a way that made sense in the made-up worlds we live in and let her come back when she’s physically ready to do so.”
Missy Peregrym’s first maternity leave
FBI fans who have watched the show for a long time will remember that Maggie has been off the show before. She was on an undercover assignment at the end of season 2 when she wasn’t there.
In reality, the mission was a way for Missy Peregrym to avoid taking her first maternity leave after giving birth to Otis, the son she had with Tom Oakley.
Missy was not in the last episodes of season 2, but she returned in the first episode of season 3.
This time around, Maggie’s absence is all the more conspicuous because she will be missing the first few episodes of Season 5 and the last few episodes of Season 4.
